Brief Summary of Work for this Position

This Administrative Associate position is responsible for assistingwith administration of the student advising process includingrecords and communication to students, ongoing website maintenanceand enhancements, support for the graduate program, coordination offaculty and others around department initiatives and deadlines,maintenance and optimization of cloud-based platforms such as Teamsand SharePoint, purchasing and receipting, and direct assistance onspecial events and projects.

This position will report directly to the Chairperson of theDepartment to help provide a wide variety of services to facultyand students and will work on a team with another Administrativeposition. This position will coordinate with the Dean’s office andother offices on campus. This position will ensure that all workperformed complies with university policy and procedures and meetsuniversity and college-imposed deadlines.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession ofthe competencies necessary to perform the work.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability tomulti-task
  • Prior relevant experience and proficiency in Microsoft OfficeSuite and associated programs (including Teams, OneDrive,SharePoint, and Excel)
  • Familiarity with working in higher education is a plus
  • Website and external communication/marketing experience
  • Significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures,methods, and practices
  • Ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling, andoffice terminology to compose and/or proofread correspondence,reports, and other materials
  • Ability to independently record, compile, summarize, andperform basic analysis of narrative and numerical materials
  • Ability to learn office processes and procedures andindependently apply this knowledge in problem-solving andresponding to questions and inquiries
  • Ability to use judgment in coordinating and monitoring officeprocedures and workflow, including monitoring deadlines
  • Ability to use courtesy and tact in performing public contactand communication duties that may be sensitive in nature
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to communicate well with and work in liaison with avariety of the university population and departments
  • Knowledge of Banner, SSRS, Cascade, uShop, EMS, Keystone, andTouchnet
